QAED

Delft University of Technology / 2020 / 5 months / research & interaction / individual project

The best way to gain willingness and confidence to use AED in cardiac arrest and save someone’s life is AED training. However, AED training is complex and dynamic. As a result, it requires a small number of participants so the instructor can assess them correctly and provide feedback. Small class significantly increases the cost of the training and its accessibility - it is not included in many first aid courses.
.

QAED is an AED training device with all features needed to learn how to use AED but also is the first device that supports instructors in the teaching process. It collects and analyses participants’ performance and translates the results to guidelines for an instructor. It includes information about the most problematic tasks and points to the students who could require more attention. QAED increases the quality of the training and allows to increase the number of participants so AED can be implemented in every first aid course.

The project has been honoured in International Design Excellence Awards IDEA with Bronze Award in the Student category, Red Dot: Design Concept 2021, iF Design Talent Award 2021 and in the Core77 Design Awards 2021 as Student Notable in the Health & Wellness category.
